Learn more about the physical practice of yoga (Asana), the postures, "correct" alignment, how to keep yourself safe in a pose, the anatomy of the body not just from a yoga perspective but as a way of understanding your own skeleton and the muscles that move it.
Time & Location
09 Apr 2022, 9:10 am – 4:40 pm
Buderim, 260 Dixon Rd, Buderim QLD 4556, Australia
About The Event
Learn about the anatomy of your body, the importance of mindful, intuitive and functional movement to honour your body and prevent injury whilst exploring yoga poses. This workshop is super important if you wish to feel empowered in your asana practice. Another motivation to study anatomy in the context of Yoga is so we can understand why some poses are easy and other's seem difficult. In terms of physical practice:-
* How much energy should we invest into working through our own resistance?
* When should we surrender to something that is not likely (or impossible) to change?
* How do we decipher between what is pain and what is discomfort? What does it mean to step to the edge and when is it safe to challenge that "edge"?
Over two days we will investigate and explore all of your favourite and not so favourite yoga poses and the role your bones, muscles and fascia play in those poses. We will take a look at some of the common injuries and mechanical issues sustained during Yoga (and life). Most importantly we learn how every body is unique. Every body has a different way of responding to gravity, has different pathways for recruiting muscles and differing amounts of tone in the joint capsules and ligaments.
"The study of ASANA is not about mastering posture. It is about using posture to understand and transform yourself"
